This came in on the day when the actor shared that she and her organisation, LLL Foundation, have been working tirelessly for 10 years to spread awareness and inspire change while facing scepticism over her battle with mental illness.

"I am deeply honoured to serve as the first-ever Mental Health Ambassador for the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Under the leadership of pm modi, india has made significant strides in prioritising mental health care. I look forward to working closely with the ministry to build on this momentum and further strengthen our nation's mental health framework," Deepika Padukone said.

As India’s first Mental Health Ambassador, Deepika Padukone will work with the Health Ministry to spread awareness, reduce stigma and promote mental health initiatives like Tele MANAS. She will also help develop strategies to ensure equal access to mental health care.

Through her foundation, LiveLoveLaugh, Padukone has already supported over 21,000 people with mental illness across eight states and led campaigns such as Dobara Poocho and #NotAshamed. The foundation also runs programs for students, doctors, and workplaces to promote mental well-being.
