Boeing’s Liquid Robotics Partners With Sagar Defence Sign To Strengthen Maritime Security

Boeing’s wholly-owned subsidiary Liquid Robotics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sagar Defence Engineering, a Mumbai-based defence technology startup to co-develop autonomous surface vessels in india.

This is the first agreement of its kind between a U.S. company and an indian startup, aiming to co-develop and produce Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs) to improve undersea awareness and boost defense ties.

The partnership aligns with the U.S.-India Roadmap for Defence Industrial Cooperation, focusing on manufacturing, system integration, ocean testing and setting up a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for the Wave Glider ASV in India.

It also supports the Autonomous Systems Industry Alliance (ASIA) to expand industry partnerships and strengthen production across the Indo-Pacific.

Capt. Nikunj Parashar, Founder of Sagar Defence Engineering, said, “ This strategic collaboration brings together the best of U.S. and Indian defence capabilities in co-developing advanced technologies like the Wave Glider. Partnering with Sagar Defence advances defence cooperation and supports the ASIA initiative to expand industry partnerships and production across the region,” he added.

The partnership supports the U.S.-India Defence Industrial Cooperation plan, strengthening collaboration in maritime defense technologies. It will focus on manufacturing, system integration, ocean testing, and setting up a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility for the Wave Glider ASV in India.
