Blinkit enters into 10-minute food delivery with Bistro App

Zomato’s quick-commerce platform, Blinkit, is joining the 10-minute food delivery trend with its new Bistro app. The app is being tested in certain areas of Delhi-NCR and delivers meals, snacks, and drinks, including tea and coffee, within 15 minutes.

A separate mobile app for the new service is available for download on both Android and Apple devices. The app, still in pilot mode, lets users import contacts and addresses from their Zomato account. However, it only shows delivery options in certain areas of Gurugram.

This comes a day after Zepto announced it would launch a separate app for its instant food delivery service, Zepto Cafe. Swiggy has already launched a similar service called "Bolt" in over 400 cities across India.

“Bistro by Blinkit is proudly brought to you by Blink Commerce Private Limited. Our mission is to redefine convenience with superfast delivery, helping consumers across India save time while enjoying seamless, high-quality experiences,” said the company.

Zomato already experimented with a quick food delivery service called Instant in 2022, but it was shut down in 2023. Blinkit reported a revenue of INR 1,156 Cr in Q2 FY25, up from INR 505 Cr in the same quarter last year. Compared to the previous quarter, revenue grew by 23% from INR 942 Cr. The quick commerce startup reduced its adjusted EBITDA loss to INR 8 Cr in the September 2024 quarter, down from INR 125 Cr in the same quarter last year.
