Baaz Bikes Teams Up with Tata Power-DDL to Power Electric Mobility in Delhi

Electric vehicle (EV) startup Baaz Bikes has partnered with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) to establish EV battery swapping stations across north and northwest Delhi.  

Under the agreement, Tata Power-DDL will provide dedicated spaces for the stations, while Baaz Bikes will handle the design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of the infrastructure. 

Initially, three battery swapping stations will be set up at Tata Power-DDL’s grid substations in Rohini Grid-5, Rohini Grid-23, and Rohini Grid-28 to promote EV adoption in Delhi.  

“This partnership combines our energy infrastructure expertise with Baaz Bikes’ advanced battery swapping technology, driving the adoption of electric two-wheelers and advancing environmental sustainability,” said Gajanan S Kale, CEO of Tata Power-DDL.

Founded in 2019 by Anubhav Sharma, Shubham Srivastava, Karan Singla, and Abhijeet Saxena, Baaz Bikes focuses on affordable EV solutions for gig workers, offering low-cost bikes, chargeable batteries and swapping facilities.  

Last month, the startup raised $8 Mn in a Series A funding round led by Singapore-based BIG Capital, aimed at expanding its e-bike offerings for last-mile delivery.  

Baaz Bikes seeks to tap into India’s growing gig economy, projected to reach 2.35 Cr workers by FY30, according to NITI Aayog. The Indian EV market, estimated to exceed $110 Bn by 2030, is bolstered by government support and innovative cleantech solutions.
