Auxano Capital Exits Wiom with 7x Return

Auxano Capital has successfully exited its investment in Wiom. Company India’s leading public internet infrastructure startup, achieving an impressive 7x return through a secondary sale. The exit was executed via Auxano’s pre-fund Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and marks the firm’s second full exit.

Wiom, formerly known as i2e1, was founded in 2015 and rebranded in 2021. It has emerged as India’s largest licensed Public Data Office Aggregator (PDOA) under the government’s PM-WANI framework. The company leverages an asset-light model, aggregating surplus bandwidth from local cable operators and reselling it via proprietary router software and a centralized backend system — making affordable internet more accessible, especially in underserved areas.

Auxano Capital first invested in Wiom in 2017, followed by a second round in 2021. The firm played an active role in supporting Wiom’s strategic and operational pivots during its scaling phase. Known for backing early-stage disruptive ventures in fintech, healthtech, sustainability, and Industry 4.0, Auxano’s latest exit highlights its focus on generating strong returns from high-growth, impact-driven startups.

The exit comes on the heels of Wiom’s recent $40 million funding round, led by Bertelsmann India Investments and Accel, announced last month. The company had previously raised $17 million in a Series A round led by RTP Global in July 2023.

Auxano Capital’s 7x return demonstrates the potential of investing early in India’s growing digital infrastructure space, especially in companies aligned with government-led connectivity initiatives like PM-WANI.
