Anuj Sahai steps down as Chief Product Officer at Peak XV

Anuj Sahai, Chief Product Officer at Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA), has stepped down after two years, marking another high-profile exit from India’s largest VC firm.

In a LinkedIn post, Sahai said, “ After an eventful run as Chief Product Officer at PeakXV, I’m turning the page and looking forward to the next adventure. The role gave me a front-row seat to the startup ecosystem—partnering with founders and ideas that are shaping markets—and hands-on experience with AI technologies. Huge thanks to Peak XV Partners for the opportunity!.”

Sahai joined Sequoia Capital India & SEA in April 2023 and continued as Chief Product Officer at Peak XV after its split from Sequoia Capital US. His departure adds to a wave of senior exits following the firm’s restructuring and evolving investment strategy.

In February, Managing Directors Abheek Anand and Shailesh Lakhani announced their departures from VC firm Peak XV. Lakhani, after 17 years at the firm, served on boards of companies like Zetwerk, ixigo, and HealthKart, while Anand led investments in slice, Blinkit, and Cuemath. 

Though Lakhani cited personal reasons, the exits coincide with internal shifts at the firm, including a reduced fund size, lower carried interest (from 30% to 20%), and a more cautious approach to growth-stage investments.

Sahai’s exit further reflects the evolving leadership at one of India’s top VC firms. While he hasn’t revealed his next move, he expressed interest in exploring new projects and AI-led startups.
