Netgear, a US-headquartered networking solutions company on Friday announced that it has acquired Exium, a cybersecurity startup based in Bengaluru, to provide integrated services for managed service providers (MSPs) and their customers.

Exium’s CEO, Farooq Khan, who will be joining the NETGEAR for Business leadership team, highlighted the shared vision of both companies to deliver a strong, all-in-one cybersecurity solution tailored for small and medium-sized businesses.

"Exium is a small team based in Bengaluru. The purpose of acquiring this startup was to have integrated solutions for small and medium enterprises," Pramod Badjate, president and general manager of Netgear for Business products.

The startup offers a secure access service edge (SASE) platform, which several universities across India are already using.

This development follows Netgear’s recent acquisition of Chennai-based VAAG Systems, aimed at strengthening its in-house software development. VAAG’s leadership, R&D experts and engineers will now join Netgear and lead its software development centre in Chennai.

Badjate shared that the company plans to hire over 100 engineers in the next 12–18 months to strengthen its teams, including those at the new Chennai centre and within the Exium team. He also mentioned that Netgear may expand its presence in Bengaluru.

Netgear focuses on small and medium-sized businesses.  "If you're a small or medium enterprise with less than 500 employees and no IT department, you need wifi and routing etc. but that is not enough; you need security as well," Badjate said.

The company is also leveraging AI and cloud technologies to simplify network setup, automate troubleshooting, and strengthen security—helping SMEs grow faster and work more efficiently.
