Skild AI, an artificial intelligence robotics firm focused on developing a scalable foundational paradigm for robots, has recently completed a successful Series A fundraising round, raising $300 million.

The funds will be utilized to further expand the company's business model and enhance the training datasets for future implementation of its technology in the market. Additionally, the capital will be used to recruit professionals in several fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, engineering, operations, and security.

The funding round was spearheaded by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, SoftBank Group, and Jeff Bezos (via Bezos Expeditions), with involvement from Felicis Ventures, Sequoia, Menlo Ventures, General Catalyst, CRV, Amazon, SV Angel, and Carnegie Mellon University.

Skild AI is developing artificial intelligence that is based on real-world data and experiences. The business is surpassing the data barrier in robotics by training its model on a minimum of 1,000 times more data points than rival models. Unlike vertically constructed robots that are tailored for specific tasks, Skild's model functions as a versatile, all-purpose cognitive system that can be used by a wide range of robots in many settings and for different purposes, such as manipulation, locomotion, and navigation.

The company's model would facilitate the utilization of affordable robots in various industries and applications.

Skild's versatile AI model enhances the agility, dexterity, and safety of any type of robot for human interaction.

Skild AI aims to create artificial general intelligence (AGI) that is based on the physical environment, challenging the prevailing belief that AGI can only be derived from digital information.

Abhinav Gupta, President and Co-Founder, Skild AI, said: “With general purpose robots that can safely perform any automated task, in any environment, and with any type of embodiment, we can expand the capabilities of robots, democratize their cost, and support the severely understaffed labor market,”
