Fashion discovery platform Shouto.app has raised $1.6 million in its pre-seed funding round Saama Capital with participation from Whiteboard Capital, Google Veteran, Amit Singhal, Arjun Vaidya along with 25 D2c founder angels.

The startup plans to use the funds for product development, manufacturer acquisition and engagement, and to build a strong founding team of engineers and maker success managers.

ShoutO was founded in 2022 by Maruthy Ramgandhi, Abhishekk Handa and Ayyappan Lakshmanan, It is creating a new online fashion shopping experience targeting Gen Z and young millennial consumers, giving them a platform to discover and shop premium fashion brands as well as private labels.

“We want to build ShoutO as a starting point for fashion discovery connecting these two opportunities and simplifying the shopping process. At ShoutO, we are building a community of ‘by-invite only’ creators we have handpicked for their genuineness and scale. With this community creators can fulfill their passion of spreading their style and helping their fans and followers discover new fashion recommendations while creating a linear source of income on the ShoutO platform,” said, Maruthy Ramgandhi, co-founder and CEO, ShoutO.

The platform’s fashion makers build their Shopify-like stores, recommend products, and monetize based on traction, while consumers browse and discover styles recommended by their favorite fashion makers.

The startup claims to reach over 50 creator stores with over 3,000 fashion recommendations on the platform. With over 60,000 monthly active users, it also aims to have 500K monthly active users by December this year.

“We are seeing social and creator-focused shopping startups gain a lot of traction in other markets, especially the US. ShoutO’s focus is to have an amalgamation of both these approaches to be able to build a top fashion destination for young Indians,” said, Ash Lilani, managing partner, Saama Capital.

They recently raised $1.6Mn in a pre-seed round led by Saama. ShoutO is co-founded by three incredible professionals with multiple successes across large companies and start-ups: Maruthy Ramgandhi who after stints with Amazon, AJIO, & Mckinsey around the world was last at Bewakoof.com as their CTO. He is joined by Ayyappan Lakshmanan who was last the head of revenue at Bewakoof.com, prior to which he launched and managed multiple fashion brands and private-labels P&L worth Rs 250 crore at Myntra. Abhishekk Handa is a serial entrepreneur who exited his previous start-up Interactyv after a sale to Oyo Rooms.
