Robotics startup Miko has acquired a majority stake in Square Off, an AI gaming startup. Miko bought a 70% ownership in Square Off, offering the current investors a way out.

“With the acquisition, Miko will expand its product line beyond the AI robot companions that initially put it on the map," the startup said in a statement.

The acquisition is a logical fit for two businesses that share a passion for robotics and learning, according to Sneh Vaswani, co-founder, and CEO of Miko, as per reported by The Economic Times.

“Miko robots and Square Off smart board games will soon communicate, with Miko robots taking on the role of instructors that teach children to play chess and other board games," Vaswani said.

Miko is an advanced consumer robotics innovation lab founded in 2015 with a commitment for providing the greatest technology to young students everywhere. Miko, which is home to some of the top educators, engineers, psychologists, and content developers in the world, elevates learning using cutting-edge AI, robots, and IoT.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Miko on this journey to revolutionise edutainment for kids,” said Square Off cofounder and CEO Bhavya Gohil.

Atur Mehta, the startup’s co-founder and chief technology officer said the move will “bring new levels of innovation, design and interaction to the space.”

Square Off, which was established in 2015 by Aatur Mehta and Bhavya Gohil, facilitates international online gaming competitions. It provides users with automatic chess board games.
