Microsoft has appointed Pavan Davuluri as its new chief of Windows and Surface, adding another Indian to the growing roster of Indians in senior positions at multinational IT corporations.
Davuluri's direct superior in his new position will be Microsoft's chief of experiences and devices, Rajesh Jha.
The Verge, a tech news website, revealed that Microsoft divided its Windows and Surface divisions under two separate leaders following the move of Panos Panay, the company's former product lead, to Amazon a year ago.
For this AI era, The Verge wrote, "this will enable us to take a holistic approach to building silicon, systems, experiences, and devices that span Windows client and cloud."
Having worked with Microsoft for 23 years, Davuluri was a key player in the company's partnership with Qualcomm and AMD to create customised Surface processors.
