OpenAI has launched SearchGPT, an AI-powered search engine that provides users with access to real-time sources, in an effort to compete with Google and Perplexity AI.
The company announced in a blog that it would introduce a limited version of its prototype with AI search capabilities in order to collect feedback from a select group of users and publishers. Additionally, it intends to directly incorporate the "best features" into ChatGPT in the future.
SearchGPT asserts that it will promptly and directly address user inquiries with the most recent information available on the internet, including explicit links to the sources.

SearchGPT is intended to facilitate user engagement with publishers by conspicuously citing and linking to them in searches. Responses are accompanied by clear, in-line, named attribution and links, allowing users to rapidly engage with additional results in a sidebar that includes source links and understand the source of the information.
