DPIIT will give one winning startup in each of the categories a cash prize of INR 10 lakhs. The National Startup Awards' winners and finalists receive carefully crafted handholding support in a variety of focus areas, including mentorship, investor connect, corporate connect, government pilot, and procurement support, among others, in every edition. Additionally, the startups will be given first preference for attendance at various national and international startup events in which DPIIT is taking part.
Despite the challenges, the Indian startup ecosystem has shown remarkable resilience and innovation, which has helped boost the nation's socio-economic growth. As a follow-up to the first edition, National Startup Awards 2021 honoured 2,177 startups from 49 sectors of the economy, 53 incubators, and 6 accelerators.

46 startups, 1 incubator, and 1 accelerator were honoured by the Hon'ble Minister for Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, on January 15, 2022, during Startup India Innovation Week, which also announced National Startup Day as January 16. Six special categories honoured exceptional Startups that benefit society. The 2021 awards honoured innovative Startups promoting Indic languages and aiding COVID-19 pandemic efforts.
NSA 2022 honoured startups and enablers that have revolutionised India's development story and have the power and potential to enable Prime Minister Modi's vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by Atmanirbhar Bharat. The recognised entities were expected to benefit from such recognition by attracting more business, financing, partnerships, and talent, as well as by inspiring other entities and budding entrepreneurs to be purposeful and responsible about their socio-economic impact. NSA 2022 focused on ESG practises, climate change, and sustainability initiatives like blue economy, green economy, sustainable tourism, digitization, etc.
