Food robotics company Mukunda Foods has raised $8 million in its series A funding round from Zomato with $5 mn participation.

Zomato invested $5 million in the company and with this round brought the company’s post-money valuation to $30 million.

The company has previously raised funds from Incubate Capital, Singapore Angel Network, and Indian Angel Network.

The startup plans to use the funds to expand its reach across QSRs, Cloud Kitchens, and Fine Dine segments and introduce multiple ROI-based models to help the F&B businesses scale.

Bangalore-based startup was founded in 2012 by Eshwar Vikas and Sudeep Sabat, It is a food robotics company that designs and manufactures products that automate cooking processes for QSR and cloud kitchens.

“Zomato and Mukunda Foods share the vision of reaching every restaurant and helping them grow. While Zomato does it by helping restaurants reach more customers and increasing their revenues, we help the F&B brands increase their profitability andgrow fast with our kitchen technologies. This common interest will help the F&B industry greatly”, said, Eshwar K. Vikas, CEO, and Co-Founder, Mukunda Foods.

The company’s products enable restaurants to scale rapidly while maintaining consistency in food quality and customer experience across multiple outlets. It helps restaurants become more efficient by increasing manpower cost, wastage, and kitchen throughput, the company’s press statement said.

“Our investment will help Mukunda Foods grow faster, drive down restaurant food prices, increase margins and enhance customer delight,” said a Zomato spokesperson.

The startup has automated the preparation of multiple cuisines like North Indian food, South Indian food, Chinese food, fried food, Pizza, Continental, and Biryani.

The startup said that some of their best-known products are wokie, a fully automatic cooking station for Asian and work-based cuisines, the Eco-Fryer, an automatic fryer, Rico, rice, pasta, and noodle maker, and Dosamatic, a fully automatic dosa machine.
