Launched by former Unacademy chief marketing officer Karan Shroff, LightFury Games has raised $8.5 million in a seed fundraising round headed by Blume Ventures, Mixi, and Gemba Capital. In the round were additional investors like Gaurav Munjal, CEO of Unacademy, and Kunal Shah, creator of Cred.
The business intends to use the additional funding to create AAA games in India. It will start by concentrating on mobile gaming before moving on to other platforms, such as consoles, as reported by ET.

“Creating successful AAA titles in the Indian market and establish a Tencent-like presence originating from India is what we are excited to bring to the fore, “It would necessitate building the finest expertise and leveraging state-of-the-art technological innovations to ensure top-tier gameplay quality,” Karan Shroff, CEO & Co-founder, LightFuryGame.
Our ultimate goal is to become the Tencent of India, and to achieve this, we will establish two state-of-the-art gaming studios. The first studio will be located in Bangalore, India, while the second one will be based in London, UK, he added in a LinkedIn post.
AAA games are launched on a wide range of platforms, such as mobile devices, PlayStation and Xbox game consoles, and individual computers.
“The ability to piece together the talent and bring in believers from the gaming and consumer universe make it one of the most exciting investments we’ve made in this space,” said Karthik Reddy, cofounder and managing partner of Blume Ventures.
