Union Minister Jitendra Singh presents INSPIRE Awards to 60 startups

Union Minister of State (IC) Ministry of Science and Technology & Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh presented the INSPIRE - MANAK awards to top 60 students at an award function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, September 16, 2022.

According to the Minister, the annual INSPIRE Awards - MANAK competition drew a record 6.53 lakh ideas and inventions from all states and UTs in 2020-21.

The INSPIRE Awards - MANAK, a flagship scheme of the country is jointly implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India.

During 2020-21, a total of 6.53 lakh students have participated and amongst them 556 students from all States and UT’s are eventually participating in the national exhibition and as an outcome of it top 60 will be identified for the award.

Out of 6.53 lakh, a total of 53,021 students were identified for financial support of Rs 10,000 each so that they could develop prototypes of the ideas that they submitted for the scheme, These 556 students who will be part of NLEPC are the country's most promising scientists, researchers, scholars, and an overall group of S&T talent in the making," he said. Dr Jitendra Singh said.

'Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research' (INSPIRE) scheme is one of the flagship programmes of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.

The INSPIRE Awards - MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge), being executed by DST with National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF), an autonomous body of DST, aims to motivate students in the age group of 10-15 years and studying in classes 6 to 10. 

The objective of the scheme is to target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children. Under this scheme, schools can nominate 5 best original ideas/innovations of students through this website till 30th September,2022.
