Comet Shoes - Founder, Net Worth, Products & Stores

The sneaker craze, once fueled by legendary releases from Nike, Adidas, and Puma, has evolved beyond comfort and performance. Today sneakers are a cultural symbol—a statement of style, status and identity. What began with basketball courts, hip-hop beats and streetwear fashion has exploded into a global obsession.

From hyped collaborations like Travis Scott x Jordan and Kanye West’s Yeezy to tech-forward designs like Nike’s Air Zoom and Adidas’ Ultraboost, the global sneaker wave has shaped buying behaviour worldwide—and India is riding the tide.

As international giants grow their footprint, a new generation of Indian shoemakers is stepping in to make their mark. Emerging brands like Neeman’s, Yoho, Rare Rabbit, and Solethreads are crafting trend-driven sneakers to earn a place in Indian wardrobes. Meanwhile, legacy names like Campus, Bata, Liberty, and even Red Tape are upgrading their collections to keep pace with changing tastes.

Amid this growing competition, one brand stands out—Comet. With a storytelling-driven approach to sneaker design, Comet has struck a chord with India’s sneakerheads. The brand now serves around 15,000 customers each month and has built a strong Instagram community of over 2.16 lakh followers. Backed by this momentum, the startup reports a monthly revenue of Rs 4–5 crore.

About the founders of Comet shoes

The journey of Comet began with Utkarsh Gupta and Dishant Daryani, two ex-consultants who left their corporate careers in the US to pursue their passion for sneakers. Utkarsh, who earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago was inspired by the vibrant sneaker culture in the West and saw an opportunity to bring a similar revolution to India.

Dishant with his experience in startups like Urban Company and Hotstar, complemented Utkarsh’s vision with operational expertise. Returning to India from Chicago and Boston, they defied conventional advice and bet on their love for sneakers.

About the founders of Comet shoes

Their journey started in 2019 during Utkarsh’s MBA days where he began conceptualizing a brand that would resonate with India’s youth. The duo did detailed market research and found that young Indians wanted stylish but affordable shoes. This led them to start Comet—a brand built with passion to bring something fresh to the Indian footwear scene.

The Making of Comet

Comet was built on careful craftsmanship and a strong focus on quality. Instead of using ready-made soles like many other brands, Comet creates its own sole molds to offer better comfort, grip, and durability. The brand avoids thermoplastic rubber (TPR) and uses high-quality rubber for longer-lasting wear. Its standout product, the Xlows silhouette, helped shape Comet’s identity, with popular colors like Tiramisu and Blackcurrant winning over fans. Comet spent a full year developing its first model, carrying out detailed research, testing and design work to get everything just right.

Comet stands out by designing sneakers that fit Indian feet better, with wider toe boxes to match the local foot shape. The brand also brings in storytelling, giving each sneaker a cultural touch. Editions like “Mango” and “Jugnu” spark nostalgia and create an emotional bond with buyers.

This mix of smart design, strong quality, and relatable themes has helped Comet grow to over 15,000 monthly customers and build a community of 2.16 lakh followers on Instagram.
