Meet Major Anil Malik, a true warrior and the founder of Spec Ops. He served his country as a special forces soldier for many years, taking part in critical operations like Operation Parakram, Rakshak, and Vijay, also known as the Kargil War. Even after retiring, instead of enjoying a peaceful life, this dedicated warrior took on the challenge of entrepreneurship, recognizing the needs of soldiers and seeing an opportunity to make a difference.

What inspired him for Entrepreneurship?

In 2002, the Indian Army gave him a chance to train with the US Special Forces. During this time, he observed the extensive range of tactical clothing and equipment used by American soldiers. He realized that if such solutions were available for our soldiers, they could be more effective. This experience inspired him to come up with a new idea.

Concept to creation:

Inspired by his enthusiasm to do something for countries’ soldiers, Major Anil Malik, SM (Retd), a retired Special Forces Officer from the Indian Army, launched his startup, Spec Ops. Spec Ops’ mission is to create products that focus on operational efficiency, ensuring that soldiers can perform their duties more effectively with the help of these innovations.

The company was the first to bring tactical cargoes to market, designed to improve both the comfort and endurance of soldiers. They provide a variety of products, including tracksuits, t-shirts, shorts, socks, caps, and more. Special Forces soldiers design and develop each product in-house, conducting extensive field testing to ensure their effectiveness.

Major Malik, recognized with the Gallantry Awards twice, is now making his mark in the world of entrepreneurship.

He has successfully built a company worth Rs 20 crore.
His business is among the fastest-growing in its sector.
Sales in 2020–2021: Rs 2.95 crore
Sales in 2021-2022: Rs 5.60 crore
Sales in 2022–2023: Rs 6.26 crore
The company is currently working towards achieving its next sales target of approximately Rs 8 crore.

If Anil wanted, he could have easily chosen an easy job after his retirement, but he did not do so. His love for the country motivated him to do something for the soldiers’ comfort, and with this motivation. He set aside a simpler life and wholeheartedly pursued the challenging journey of entrepreneurship.
