FWD Group Holdings Limited Appoints Sid Sankaran as MD & Group Chief Financial Officer

Former CEO of SiriusPoint, Sid Sankaran, has been hired by FWD Group Holdings Limited, a pan-Asian life insurance company, to serve as Managing Director and Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Sankaran is set to assume his new position at FWD Group on September 1st, 2023, pending regulatory approval. However, he will join the company as a Senior Advisor starting on June 1st, 2023, as per reported by reinsurancene.

Huynh Thanh Phong, Chief Executive Officer of FWD Group, commented, “We’re very pleased to welcome Sid’s leadership for the next stage in FWD’s development as we cross our 10th anniversary year. Sid’s extensive public company CFO, the global insurance industry, and listed company board experience will be a fantastic addition to our Group Executive team.”

In addition, Sankaran will be appointed as a member of the FWD Group Executive Committee and will directly report to Huynh Thanh Phong.

Sankaran possesses vast expertise in leading global insurance, reinsurance, and finance endeavors. Presently, he holds a position on the Board of Directors of Oscar Health, a health insurance company, and is concurrently serving as their Interim Chief Financial Officer.

Before his current roles, Sankaran held the positions of Chairman and CEO at SiriusPoint from its inception in 2021 until May 2022. During the acquisition of Sirius Group by Third Point Reinsurance Ltd., he also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Third Point Reinsurance Ltd.
