[Funding News] Ninecamp Secures $2 Mn Seed Funding Round

Ninecamp Ventures, a collection of premium food and beverage brands founded by former Zomato executive Chaitanya Mathur, has secured $2 million in seed funding from a group of angel and non-institutional investors.

The capital will be utilised to increase the size of the team and the brand portfolio.

Ninecamp asserts that it is a food and beverage venture of the future, with a primary emphasis on consumer products and premium dining. It is intended to introduce a new generation of premium culinary experiences that are focused on global standards in terms of product, service, design, and ingredients.

In April of this year, Ninecamp introduced its inaugural restaurant, Marièta, in Gurugram.

Chaitanya Mathur has more than 17 years of experience and was instrumental in the development of Zomato's live operation by creating Zomaland. He has been the driving force behind numerous entertainment and event brands. In 2008, he established Excited Monkey Entertainment, where he remained until 2011. Following this, he established the music portal Bangin Beats in 2011 and co-founded the festival platform The Grub Fest in 2014.

Ninecamp's leadership team comprises chief operating officer Punweet Singh, who was previously a cofounder of beverage company Jade Forest, and chief marketing officer Sukriti Chopra.

Chaitanya Mathur, founder and CEO, Ninecamp, said: “We truly envision that consumers in India would appreciate the kind of products we are building as a next generation of food and beverage, especially in the dining space and then largely in the sector as a whole. We are starting with a few premium dining products and look to go deeper with categories like quick service restaurants, casual dining outlets and maybe even delivery only brands,”
