Wealthy raises $14.5 million funding from Bertelsmann India Investments

Wealthy, a wealth management startup has raised Rs 130 crore ($14.5 million) in a fresh funding round led by Bertelsmann India Investments.

Existing investor Shepherd’s Hill group and Alpha Wave also took part in this round.

The funds will mainly be used to grow the technology platform and open in more cities across the country. The firm will also use it to train and develop the wealth managers who work on its platform.

“We have set a target of adding 1,000 new IFAs (independent financial advisors) every month—currently we are adding 350. By December 2026, we want to get to an AUM of Rs 12,000 crore,” Wealthy cofounder Aditya Agarwal said.

Founded in 2015 by Aditya Agarwal and Prashant Gupta, the Bengaluru-based firm handles over ₹300 crore in transactions every month and works with more than 6,000 mutual fund distributors who serve over 1 lakh clients in 1,000+ towns. About ₹5,000 crore of client assets are managed on its platform. Wealthy also said it adds more than 350 new distributors every month.

The startup said it is focusing on the growing number of independent mutual fund distributors. It noted that although their count has doubled to nearly 2 lakh in the last five years, most still don’t have the digital tools needed to compete with big institutions. The firm added that distributors currently spend about 70% of their time on manual tasks like KYC and compliance.
