Wastelink raises $3 Mn in Series A round from Avaana Capital

Wastelink, a cleantech startup has raised Rs 27 Cr (around $3 million) in its Series A funding round from early stage investment firm Avaana Capital.

The startup will use the new funds to improve its technology, enter new categories, expand to more regions, and start exporting its products.

“Animal feed is the backbone of our food system, yet it suffers from chronic volatility in quality and price… We’re addressing this by delivering consistent, traceable, and cost-stable nutrition at scale,” co-founder and CEO Saket Dave said.

About Wastelink

Founded in 2018 by Saket Dave and Krishnan Kasturirangan, Wastelink is a B2B food upcycling startup that uses its AI-powered tech to turn surplus food into animal feed ingredients. It works with two types of clients: food processors and animal feed manufacturers.

From the producer side, Wastelink collects surplus or rejected food and FMCG products, processes them at its facilities in Sonipat, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, and converts them into its feed ingredient called ECOMIX. This ingredient is then supplied to animal feed companies to make animal food products.

The startup has also built an AI-driven reverse supply chain tracking system, giving food processors visibility into how their food waste and packaging are used, while helping feed companies track how the raw material is produced.

Wastelink says it now serves 5,000+ pincodes across India, has upcycled over 35,000 tonnes of FMCG surplus into feed ingredients, and provides nutrition to 38,500+ animals every year through ECOMIX.
