Former Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) scientists' space technology startup Orbitt Space has raised Rs 1 million in pre-seed funding round led by Pi Ventures, with participation from IIMA Ventures.
The startup plans to use the funds to accelerate the design and development of its proprietary electric propulsion technology and avionics systems.

“India’s deep-rooted excellence in spacetech, led by ISRO, is now fuelling a new wave of private innovation. Orbitt Space is poised to disrupt the satellite market by pioneering access to ULEO to deliver better performance and lower costs for satellite operators,” said Shubham Sandeep, managing director at Pi Ventures.
“When we were at ISRO, we began to identify some of the challenges in the conventional space market. One of the biggest is that low earth orbit is becoming increasingly congested, creating manoeuvrability and control issues for new satellite launches,” cofounder Parmar said.
Parmar said that when combined with a fast and agile 200 kg satellite, Orbitt’s technology could support advanced uses like earth observation, low-latency telecom, climate tracking, surveillance, and science missions.
About Orbitt Space
Founded in February 2025 by Christopher Parmar and Anupam Kumar, the Ahmedabad-based Orbitt Space is building a new electric propulsion system and satellite platform designed for ultra low earth orbit (below 250 km).
Parmar and Kumar worked at ISRO for over eight years, focusing on satellite design, testing, and deployment, before starting Orbitt Space in March 2025.
The company is still in development and plans to test its technology in space soon. After successful demonstrations, it will launch its platform for commercial use.
Orbitt also plans to grow its team by hiring more scientists and engineers and start testing its first prototype.
