Star Localmart, the retail division of Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), has acquired Bengaluru-based gated community retail chain DusMinute for an undisclosed sum.

With the acquisition, Star Localmart now operates 170 stores. The company targets tier-II to tier-VI towns, bringing modern supermarket formats to rural consumers.

It plans to expand across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with a long-term goal of reaching 3,000 stores by 2030 and generating ₹5,000 crore in revenue within five years.

DusMinute runs 40 stores inside residential complexes, offering groceries, fruits, vegetables, and household items, along with app-based doorstep delivery. This supports Star Localmart’s mission to make modern, affordable retail accessible to every community.

In July 2023, DusMinute raised ₹11.5 crore in a bridge round led by Inflection Point Ventures, with participation from banker Bandana Kankani. Its backers also include Indian Angel Network and several angel investors.

Founded in 2020, Star Localmart is developing a retail network in smaller towns with compact, multi-brand stores. By integrating DusMinute’s hyperlocal model with its growing presence, it aims to build stronger consumer connections and reinforce its leadership in India’s regional retail market.

Star Localmart runs over 130 stores across 50 towns in Western Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka. Each outlet offers more than 3,000 products, combining national, regional, and local brands. The company also focuses on creating jobs and providing training within the communities it operates.
