Lightstorm Raises Rs 700 Cr funding from NIIF IFL to expand fibre connectivity

Fibre assets company Lightstorm Telecom Connectivity has secured Rs 700 crore in debt from the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF). 

The funds will be used to improve enterprise fibre connectivity, including AI data centres, intercity digital highways, and undersea cable landings.

“We are thrilled to secure this funding from NIIF IFL, which validates our growth roadmap and reinforces the confidence that leading financial institutions have in Lightstorm's vision,” said Amajit Gupta, Group CEO and MD, Lightstorm.

“This partnership will fuel our growth plans, allowing us to tap into expansion, new opportunities, and unlock our business potential. As AI and data centre growth reshape India’s digital ecosystem, this funding will enable us to build the robust connectivity backbone required to support this transformation,” he added. 

Since it started about three and a half years ago, the Squared Capital-backed company has invested over $100 million to build a 30,000 km fibre network connecting 65 data centres. In its next phase, Lightstorm aims to strengthen its finances to build future-ready fibre infrastructure projects, according to Amajit Gupta, the group CEO and managing director.
