Research institutions, PhD scholars, clinicians, hospitals, early-stage startups, and incubators working on Ayurveda or related areas like plant-based therapeutics and integrative health can apply for the grant.

“Many Ph. D. scholars are looking to innovate and many startups want to build better products, but they lack the capabilities to do so,” said founder Ameve Sharma. “Since we have not utilised the majority of the money we raised as a startup, we decided to allocate Rs 50 crore to create this innovation fund.”

Founded in 2016 by Sharma and Shrey Badhani, Kapiva has raised around $120 million in funding so far. Its most recent round was a $60 million Series D (₹532 crore) in September 2025. Kapiva co-founder Ameeve Sharma said that the capital for the new innovation fund comes from this last fundraise.

Kapiva offers wellness products across categories like supplements, gummies, capsules, and skincare. The brand has over 100 products and also provides consultations with Ayurvedic doctors.

Its top-selling categories include diabetes care, gym and sports nutrition, energy, and liver and heart health. Kapiva sells its products through its own D2C website, online marketplaces, and offline retail stores. According to co-founder Ameeve Sharma, the diabetes supplement category is the brand’s best-selling segment.
