Intrinsic Foundries, a carbon-to-value biomanufacturing platform, has secured 12 crores (around $1.4 million) in a seed funding round led by Transition VC.
The funds will be used to run industrial pilot projects, grow research efforts, file patents, expand engineering and sales teams, improve manufacturing and set up a US office to support global expansion.

“Carbon is not waste. It is a resource waiting to be transformed. The economics of carbon capture have been broken for decades because the industry has been trying to bury the problem underground. At Intrinsic, we are using nature-based biological systems to convert industrial emissions into the ingredients that go into your supplements, your food, and your skincare. This funding accelerates our mission to build a circular carbon economy where heavy industries become suppliers to the health and wellness sector, ” said Shreyansh Jain, Founder of Intrinsic Foundries.
“By utilising the captured carbon, Intrinsic Foundries' technology platform generates high-value biochemicals for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic Industries. In the recent budget, India has committed ₹20,000 crore over five years to scale up carbon capture, utilisation, and storage. This will rapidly advance CCUS, and we believe Intrinsic is well-positioned to capture a significant share of the market.”, said Shantanu Chaturvedi, partner at Transition VC.
About Intrinsic Foundries
Founded in 2023 by Shreyansh Jain, Sanjay Jain and Umang Jain, Hazaribagh-based Intrinsic Foundries is a carbon-to-value biomanufacturing startup that turns industrial emissions, waste and residues into high-value biochemicals. Using its own microbial biorefinery systems, photobioreactors and automated processes, the company helps industries reduce carbon while producing sustainable ingredients.
The startup uses biological systems to convert captured carbon into biochemicals for food, pharma, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, agriculture and advanced materials, turning emissions into useful products and new revenue streams.
Intrinsic Foundries has built a carbon biorefinery platform with proprietary photobioreactors and Factory 4.0 automation. Its first focus is microalgae-based biorefineries for industrial emissions and it is also developing yeast-based and other microbial systems.
Last year, the company completed a proof of concept at a thermal power plant, showing reliable continuous carbon capture. It is now working with industrial partners in cement, steel, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and food sectors.
Over the next 12–24 months, Intrinsic plans to launch multiple industrial pilots and start its first one-ton-per-day commercial plant. Its goal is to make carbon-to-value biomanufacturing a key part of global industrial decarbonization, showing that emissions can drive sustainable supply chains and generate economic returns.
