Deeptech startup Comminent secures $2 Mn from Transition VC

Deeptech startup Comminent has raised $2 million in funding from energy transition-focused fund Transition VC.

The funds will be used to expand the company’s smart metering portfolio and explore broader smart city applications, including smart lighting, water metering, and intelligent infrastructure management, Commitment said in a press release.

About Comminent 

Co-founded in 2018 by Amarjeet Kumar and Vikas Kashyap, the Bengaluru-based Comminent develops standards-based, device-agnostic RF mesh communication networks for critical infrastructure, including smart metering and smart cities. 

Its interoperable, high-throughput, highly secure and self-healing network stack overcomes the reliability, scalability and latency issues of legacy communication technologies.

The company aims to provide utilities and OEMs with a robust, cost-effective solution that operates seamlessly across geographies, including rural and non-urban areas. It plans to install 250 million smart meters within 4–5 years and projects Rs 300 crore in revenue by FY28.

Comminent says it has secured contracts for over 1 million endpoints and is negotiating additional smart metering projects. It is also advancing smart street lighting and water metering implementations and plans global expansion via strategic partnerships, with early interest from markets like the US and Japan.
