Biotech startup Utopia Therapeutics raises $1.5 Mn in seed round

Biotech startup Utopia Therapeutics has secured $1.5 million in a seed funding round from Whale Tank, a leading early-stage venture firm focused on breakthrough life science innovations. 

The funds will be used to speed up the preclinical development of UT009, its main treatment for obesity and to move it forward to safety studies, key approvals and Phase I human trials.

Co-founded in 2024 by Uday Saxena and Gopi Kadiyala, Utopia Therapeutics is working on next-generation vaccines for chronic metabolic diseases, especially obesity. 

The startup aims to develop first-of-their-kind vaccines using innovative scientific methods to treat obesity and related health issues.

Hyderabad-based Utopia Therapeutics says its vaccine UT009 is designed to reduce fat buildup and improve metabolic health by targeting lipid-related antigens. The company also plans to scale and commercialize its UT018-based regenerative product line which uses GRAS-qualified, non-pharmaceutical applications.
