Biomaterials startup Ukhi has raised $1.2 million in pre-seed funding. The round includes equity investment led by 100Unicorns, with participation from Venture Catalysts, angel investor Avtar Monga, and debt funding from SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India).

Funding Utilisation

The funds will be used to scale production, improve material research, and expand sustainable packaging solutions globally, Ukhi said in a press release.

Founded in 2019 by Priyanka Chauhan, Vishal Vivek, and Sundeep Kumar Tyagi, Ukhi focuses on creating biodegradable biomaterials from agricultural waste.

Aim of the company

The company aims to help the packaging industry with its patented sustainable materials, contributing to the bioeconomy and promoting eco-friendly practices. Ukhi operates in Haryana and Uttarakhand.

Ukhi has developed a compostable biomaterial as a base for sustainable packaging, using lignocellulosic agricultural waste. Its patent-pending technology offers a scalable alternative to traditional plastics, aiming to reduce plastic pollution, prevent crop burning, and promote a circular economy.
