Water-tech company Althion has raised Rs 3.6 crore in a pre-Series A funding round from BioAngels, supported by the IAN Group, and investors Arun Seth, Om Manchanda, KNK Venkatraman, and Shubham Rastogi.
Based in Hyderabad, the company had earlier raised $180K from C-CAMP and other investors. The new funds will be used to manufacture 40 units of its tabletop laboratory water purification system, support research and development for improving kidney dialysis, and set up a larger facility to expand operations.

Founded in 2017 by Surya Rao, Althion creates ultra-pure water systems for healthcare, research, and semiconductor industries. The company’s innovations, supported by BIRAC and the Make in India initiative, are helping dialysis centres, biotech labs, and hospitals across India.

Althion aims to offer affordable, high-quality solutions to fill the gap in expensive alternatives. Its Althion Remote Monitoring System (ARMS) adds value by allowing predictive and preventive maintenance.
The company’s products are trusted by top institutions like Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Homi Bhabha Memorial Cancer Centre, Narayana Hrudayalaya, and Nephroplus centres in India.
Althion has received support from BIRAC for developing its tabletop and kidney dialysis products, along with seed funding from C-CAMP Bangalore and AIC CCMB Hyderabad. It has also secured funding for CE marking and USFDA certifications, which will help it expand into markets in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
