AI fintech startup Kaaj raises $3.8 million in seed round

Kaaj, an agentic AI credit intelligence platform has raised $3.8 million in a seed funding round led by Kindred Ventures.

The round also saw participation from Better Tomorrow Ventures and other investors.

With this funding, Kaaj will improve its product, add more modules, and expand its customer base of lenders and brokers that support small and medium businesses.

"Time kills deals in small-business lending," said CEO and cofounder Shah. "When multiple lenders compete for the same quality borrowers, speed determines winners. Faster, more consistent decisions with clear data help brokers reduce administration time and focus on delivering bespoke advice and guidance for small businesses,” he said.

"Small-business lending has long struggled with a fundamental economics problem—the cost to underwrite smaller loans hasn't matched the returns, leaving millions of businesses underserved. Kaaj is solving this," said Kanyi Maqubela, Managing Partner, Kindred Ventures.

About Kaaj

Founded in 2024 by husband-wife duo Utsav Shah and Shivi Sharma, Kaaj has launched a platform that automates underwriting workflows for lenders offering small business loans. Its technology can extract, verify, and organise borrower documents and financials in minutes instead of days.

The company says the platform has already processed over $5 billion in loan applications and works smoothly with existing loan origination systems and CRM tools.
