Fitterfly Partners with Google Cloud to Launch ‘Klik’ AI Food Cam Feature

Fitterfly, a prominent healthtech firm in India, has collaborated with Google Cloud to introduce its newest artificial intelligence functionality – Fitterfly Klik.

Fitterfly Klik utilises cutting-edge AI computer vision technology in conjunction with the Fitterfly Nutrition Database, which contains over 37,000 Indian food items, to identify, analyse, and deconstruct food.

Utilising Klik is a straightforward process. Users can access Klik within the meal-tracking food diary in the Fitterfly app by selecting the camera icon. A user has the ability to do the action of Klik while simultaneously consuming a meal or effortlessly upload photographs from the picture gallery all at once during the evening. The system will promptly offer comments regarding the food item, including its portion size, as well as providing comprehensive nutritional breakdowns such as calorie count, distribution of macronutrients, and distribution of micronutrients.

Fitterfly Klik has been meticulously built, incorporating features like as Focus Guidelines to assist users in capturing the ideal shot for optimal food detection. Klik’s sophisticated algorithms examine the image of the meal and its nutritional information, then seamlessly integrate it into the user’s Meal Diary on the Fitterfly App. Users have the option to include extra items from the same plate if not all dishes are visible in the original photo.

Ammar Jagirdar, Head of Fitterfly X-Labs, said: “With Gemini 1.5 Flash on Vertex AI connected with the Fitterfly Food Database, Klik makes meal logging possible in a few seconds, even with multiple dishes on a plate. Multimodal models today are surpassing traditional image classification methods in accuracy, even on a complex problem like food. Klik will reduce friction and help our users take another step in building healthier lifestyles.”

Dr. Arbinder Singal, Fitterfly’s Co-Founder and CEO, said: “Indians eat more than 32 cuisines and a food cam AI was difficult to develop for both identification and serving size estimation. Paired with our industry leading food database, Klik is a step towards helping millions of people in making better choices and enabling better health outcomes. We will be making Klik available for our app users as well as via API to our insurance partners and the pharmaceutical industry.”
