Elon Musk, the CEO of American electric car manufacturer Tesla, put an end to all the rumours on Wednesday by confirming his visit to India in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is expected to visit India later this month to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit, he is expected to declare his intention to invest and establish a new manufacturing plant in the nation.
Reuter's article, which cited people with knowledge of the situation, states that Musk will visit Modi in New Delhi during the week of April 22.
This occurs in the midst of rumours that Tesla and Reliance Industries are in discussions about forming a possible joint venture to establish a manufacturing plant in India.
During Modi's June visit to the US last year, Musk met with the latter and revealed his plans to visit India in 2024, adding that he was confident Tesla will soon make its way into the Indian market.
Tesla requested duty reductions from the Indian government last year in order to import its cars into the country.
