Edtech startup Camp K12 has launched Hatch Kids, a metaverse and AR/VR creation platform for young learners.
‘Hatch Kids' is an online 3D creation platform for children ages 6 to 18 to design, code, and publish 3D games, augmented reality (AR) apps, interactive virtual reality (VR) worlds and Metaverse experiences for free of cost.
The Gurgaon-based Camp k12 was founded in 2020 by Sandeep Bhagi and Anshul Bhagi, It is an online learning platform that provides coding classes and live learning courses for the students.
Over the past 6 months, the startup has grown organically through school, government and ed-tech partnerships to over 1.1 million users in 150 countries, with 75% of consumption coming from the US and Canada.
So far, its students have created over 3.6 million projects on the platform, in and out of the classroom.
“There are over 100 million kid coders out there today using a variety of free coding platforms to learn coding by building games and apps. These platforms are incredibly effective and set the stage for the kids coding movement starting in 2007, however the vast majority of them are restricted to 2D project creation, built for the age of smartphones and flat screens. As technologies like AR and VR go mainstream, we need to upgrade the tools that kids learn on and that educators teach on for modern-day use cases and content formats. We built Hatch as a kids coding platform for the age of the metaverse. We want to give 100M+ young kids their first AR/VR creation experience and the self-confidence to be builders in the inevitable Mixed Reality future rather than passive consumers of it”, said, AnshulBhagi, Co-founder and CEO of Camp K12.
Its platform is being used by over 100 schools and edtech companies in the UK, North America, the Middle East and Europe to make AR/VR creation accessible to children.
The platform expects Hatch Kids to reach the top 2 million MAUs by December 2022, thanks to strong student demand from students as well as partnerships with 1500+ schools, ed-tech and additional government bodies across the globe.
It severs over 400,000 students across North America, Middle East, and India. In August 2021, Camp K12 had raised $12 million in its Series A funding round from Matrix Partners India and Elevation Capital.
