[Funding alert] Building Design Platform Snaptrude Raises $6.6 mn from Accel, others

With participation from Possible Ventures, Clark Valberg (Founder, Invision), RFC, CapitalX, Thilo Konzok (Co-Founder Home), and numerous other business angels, building design platform Snaptrude has secured $6.6 million in seed capital led by Accel and Foundamental VC.

With the seed money, Snaptrude will introduce its web-based infrastructure for collaborative building design, as per reported by TechCrunch.

“The problem has been that the industry is very backward in nature. It’s dominated by companies like Autodesk, humongous companies, software built largely in the 90s. So, the software stack is very old,” said Altaf Ganihar, founder and CEO of Snaptrude.

The business is employing a strategy similar to that of Figma to take on a sector where cloud-based cooperation is still elusive and which has relied on decades-old code.

“The AEC [architecture, engineering and construction] industry is currently being held back by antiquated software systems & hasn’t undergone a modern cloud disruption. This is baffling, especially in an industry in which collaboration between teams and specialists is necessary. This is where Snaptrude is changing the game — enabling true collaboration, and access to real-world data in a huge, global market. We are bullish on Snaptrude’s strategy and category leadership ahead,” said Prashanth Prakash, Partner at Accel.

With Snaptrude, architects and design teams would be able to save weeks worth of manual efforts in the fragmented concept design process, which at the minimum involves 4 tools that do not speak to each other.
