Browserstack Acquires Berlin-Based Startup Bird Eats Bug

Browserstack, a mobile and web software testing platform backed by Accel, has acquired Berlin-based defect reporting startup Bird Eats defect in a $20 million deal.

BrowserStack is one of the most highly valued Indian software product firms, with a market capitalization of $4 billion at the time of its most recent capital raise in 2021.

Browserstack, which was established by Ritesh Arora and Nakul Aggarwal, alumni of IIT Bombay, is headquartered in San Francisco and Mumbai. It enables companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, and X to test their software on the cloud. Browserstack has acquired Bird Eats Bug for the fifth time.

Browserstack, which has been profitable since its inception, has stated that mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have been a critical component of its growth strategy. The company intends to pursue additional deals in the upcoming quarters, and it currently has $250 million in cash on its balance sheet to support both organic and inorganic investments.

Bird Eats Bug offers a software-as-a-service (SaaS) utility that enables users, regardless of their technical expertise, to generate comprehensive bug reports. BrowserStack asserts that the software development industry is presently experiencing inefficiencies in its bug-reporting processes.

Browserstack also announced the launch of Bug Capture, a manual testing utility that it claims enables users to debug issues 30% more quickly on average, in conjunction with the acquisition of Bird Eats Bugs.
