Together, UNICEF and Blockchain for Impact (BFI) will improve health systems to support the Indian government's efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

This two-year partnership will support pregnant women, newborns, and children, including adolescents, especially the most vulnerable, to have equitable access to, use, and adopt gender-responsive quality health services and healthy behaviours. It will do this by utilising human-centric design principles and grassroots-driven solutions.

As part of this partnership, $2.1 million will be reallocated to fund two initiatives that guarantee every child's right to life and health, especially the most underprivileged. Sandeep Nailwal, the founder of BFI, and Cynthia McCaffrey, the UNICEF representative to India, inked the partnership memorandum in Delhi.

To achieve this, the State Health Resource Centre in Meghalaya will be strengthened in order to increase the state's capacity to handle difficult public health issues and improve the accountability, dependability, and equity of the state's healthcare systems.

In order to support state and ground partner capacities across seven states in developing local solutions using human-centric design principles, the collaboration will also establish a pan-India health and climate resilience fellowship. The main objective of this collaboration, known as "The India Health Fellowship Programme," is to offer thorough technical assistance to the state and local public health systems.

Sandeep Nailwal, Founder, Blockchain For Impact, said: “BFI, in partnership with UNICEF, is revolutionizing philanthropy by adopting Human-Centered Design (HCD) to tackle complex public health challenges. Instead of traditional solution-centric methods, we focus on problem-centric strategies that address the real needs of communities and service providers. By building on the unique challenges and experiences at the district level, we create health interventions that are not only innovative but also scalable and sustainable. This shift leads to practical, impactful solutions, fostering better health outcomes and building stronger, more resilient communities.”
