Samir Kumar has been appointed as the new Country Manager for India by the ecommerce behemoth Amazon, with effect from October 1.
Kumar, who joined Amazon in 1999, will succeed Manish Tiwary, who has elected to depart the organization in order to pursue novel opportunities.
Tiwary has been with Amazon for more than eight years and has been the leader of Amazon India since July 2020.
Samir Kumar's new responsibilities are in addition to his present role, which involves the supervision of consumer businesses in Turkey, South Africa, and the Middle East.
Kumar, who joined Amazon in 1999, was a member of the initial team that established Amazon's India operations in 2013. He has been instrumental in the development of Amazon's consumer operations in emerging markets.
