Patna-based DeHaat, an agritech platform that provides end-to-end agricultural services to farmers, announced the acquisition of Y-Cook India in an all cash deal.

The Bangalore-based Y-Cook was founded in 2011 by Janardhan Swahar, Vijay Reddy, and Gayathri Swahar, It is a food technology firm that distributes ready-to-use steamed products.

It processes and exports sweet corn and pulses, which exports to nine countries.

Following this acquisition, Swahar will continue to lead the business that will operate as an independent entity under the DeHaat umbrella.

Founded in 2012 by Adarsh Srivastava, Amrendra Singh, Shashank Kumar and Shyam Sundar Singh, It is a full-stack agritech startup that uses AI-enabled technology to revolutionize supply chain and production efficiencies in the agriculture sector.

Since it’s inception, it had raised $161 million from marquee investors like Sofina, Lightrock, Prosus Ventures, Sequoia Capital India among others.

“This acquisition provides DeHaat the opportunity to offer to our farmers’ access to the niche market and customer base that Y-Cook has created both within India and abroad,” said, Adarsh Srivastav, cofounder and director, DeHaat.

He said that the Indian export market has grown to $50 billion and it is expected to grow further.

The company said that over the next 12 months, DeHaat aims to expand its customer footprint to more than 15 countries with a wide range of fresh and processed products sourced directly from farms with a 100% traceability system. In January 2022, DeHaatacquired Maharashtrabased business-to-business (B2B) agriinput marketplace Helicrofter for an undisclosed amount.
