VC firm Merak Ventures has announced that it has invested USD 1.45 million (about INR 12 crores) in agri-food startup Farmtheory.

Through the financing, Farmtheory will be able to grow its operations, with a primary focus on strengthening its supply chain by connecting to more farmers, growing its supply arm, and improving its technology infrastructure—all of which will provide a reliable and sustainable source of product.

Arpit Agarwal, Co-founder of Farmtheory, said, “Farmtheory embodies a vision where every connection between farmer and consumer signifies more than just a transaction represents a commitment to enriching lives and fostering sustainability. Farmtheory is a Y-Combinator-backed firm that promises to tackle climate change, reduce food loss, and increase farmer incomes by repurposing edible produce instead of allowing it to go to waste.
