Manish Tiwary Resign as Head of Amazon India

Manish Tiwary, the national manager for Amazon India, has resigned in order to explore new prospects, marking the conclusion of his eight-year tenure with the prominent global e-commerce company.

Tiwary commenced his tenure at Amazon India in 2016, serving as vice president for a duration of four years. In 2020, he was promoted to the position of country manager. He served as the leader of the consumer and seller services sector for a duration of four years. Prior to his employment at Amazon, he held the position of managing director at Unilever’s Gulf division.

The company announced in a statement on Tuesday that Tiwary will continue to be employed until October. Following his departure, Amit Agarwal, the vice president of India and developing markets, will collaborate closely with the team.

Amazon’s subsidiary in India is still encountering intense rivalry from Flipkart, which is owned by Walmart, as well as Meesho, which mostly focuses on tier 2 cities in India’s expanding e-commerce industry. The current valuation of the market is at $70 billion and is projected to reach $325 billion by 2030, propelled by the rising rates of internet penetration and smartphone use.
